Fabrics & materials used:
- 1 yard of Green and Gray Floral Embroidered Mesh
- 2 yards of Black Stretch Bamboo Jersey
- 1 spool of 10 Black 1000m Gutermann Sew All Thread
- 1 Italian Black Glossy Shank Back Button
- 2.yds of Black Double Fold Bias Tape
- MDF101 – The Daisy Top (free sewing pattern below)
Here’s how to sew: Using a serger would be ideal, but not necessary. You can use your standard sewing machine with a stretch stitch setting and it would work just fine!
- Attach the front to the back at side seams. Press open seam allowance.
- Pin sleeves at notches and sew at underarm seam.
- Pin and set sleeves in place. Stitch and press seams.
4. Next, sew together the yoke at the shoulder seams.
5. Open the top fold of the binding and pin the binding tape to the neck and key-hole opening then stitch in place. Then fold down the top of the binding tape and topstitch to finish.
6. Once the binding is done you can finish and add your button.
7. Now we can pin the yoke to the yoke seam. Make sure to match up all the notches. Stitch in place.
8. Fold waistband front and back pieces and press. Pin waistband front and back together at side seams. Match waistband to shirt bottom at side seams and pin in place along the bottom opening. Stitch and press. Topstitch along waistband (optional).
9. Finish sleeve with a turned hem and stitch.
10. Pin the trim around the yoke seam and stitch in place. Give everything a good press and you’re done!

Could this be made in woven fabric? I feel like the back opening makes it possible? I have a similar top in woven but the lace is not in v-shape.
Hi Marie, we’re sorry for the delay in responding to your question! We get dozens of comments and questions each day, and so many questions get buried and, unfortunately, unanswered. We are now focusing user support on patterns 2 years and newer. We hope this will prevent questions on our more current patterns from going unanswered. Although this is late, we wanted to respond in case anyone else has the same question: you can make this pattern in woven fabric, thus we recommend that you size up and insert elastic in the waistband.
I made this out of a cotton print (bottom) and a moleskin (yolk). Turned out great! A couple tips- I am a street size 12-14 and 36 DDD and I cut out a 16-18 size pattern and it was a little big- and that may have to do more with the weight of the fabrics. I would like to try again with a jersey and mesh to see how it lays. And because I used a print I cut the front and back longer and didn’t make a separate waistband. Also, because I used a thicker fabric for the yolk the seam tape pooched out on the bottom of the keyhole- I sewed a small angled seam on the underside and lays perfectly. Really easy to sew. I will totally make this again, very fun. Hooray for fringe!
I will be making this for next years Mardi Gras. So fun. Found some purple, green & gold fringe that is perfect and planning a nice purple fabric!

Is there a sew along video for this? I’m struggling hard core with the notches for the cut out on my mock up and would love to see someone with more experience than me do it haha. I have so much ease between the bottom notch in the cut out and the notch closest to the V of the main fabric. I’m sure I’ve done something wrong haha. Any advice?
